Communiqué of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad

Algeria has taken note with interest of the ruling of the International Court of Justice about South Africa's genocide case against the Zionist entity with respect to its aggression against Gaza.

The decision bears witness to the appropriateness of the initiative of the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the first head of State to have called for referral to international courts and legal bodies for the multiplicity of crimes punished by the international humanitarian law perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza.

Algeria renews its high appreciation and support of South Africa for the referral to the International Court of Justice, which has just clearly recognized the merits of its initiative.

Algeria considers the ruling of the International Court of Justice as the beginning of the end for the era of impunity the Israeli occupation has long benefited from, giving free rein to its oppression of the Palestinian people and the suppression of their legitimate rights.

Algeria takes note of the interim measures ordered by the International Court of Justice, concerning which the Israeli occupier must answer to the Court within one month.

Algeria's permanent mission at the United Nations has been instructed by the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to request a Security Council meeting as soon as possible to give enforceable effect to the ruling of the International Court of Justice, in relation to the interim measures that must be taken by the Israeli occupier.
